Kernel 4.1.3 for ROSA 2012 2012.1 2014.1 OMV2013 2014 2015

Kernel 4.1.3 for ROSA 2012lts, rosa2012.1, omv2013.0, omv2014.0, rosa2014.1 and cooker (omv2015.0)
Kernel 4.1 arrives ASAP in its complex nrj & nrjQL flavours, for ROSA and OpenMandriva Linux OSes!

...considering that 4.1 will also be a LTS release." wrote Linus Torvalds in his regular message

This is the current version of the "nrj" and "nrjQL" stable 4.1.3 LTS ;-),
all features have been added and configured with unofficial CK/BFS,UKSM,TOI (these are not yet available for 4.1 tree)

This is an early and still young 4.1.x, so there can still be problems, although it works just fine on all my PCs...

For a broader adoption of the new kernel 4.1
we are collecting all infos about the non-free drivers stuff running or not, with new kernels 4.1

Ghibò has just informed me that:
the latest nvidia 340.76 driver, available on ROSA repositories, is good for kernel 4.1 series

Andreas has informed us that
the latest nvidia-current driver, availabel on ROSA repositories, is good for kernel 4.1 series

VMware 11.1.2 and the free VMPlayer are building modules, running OK with kernel 4.1 serie

VirtualBox 5 should be already OK, I hope will arrive soon on repositories of ROSA and OMV

We don't know anything about the status of kernel 4.1 with
- the current ATI fglrx
- the current broadcom wifi
if someome can report about that, it would be a good thing

About Broadcomm drivers, in my desktop there is a broadcomm AC-capable card that I never used. What I can say is that in the past I did see the available wireless networks(don't ask me with which firmware) and now they are not more listed among the available connections. I never installed an antenna, but my desktop practically sits under the router.
So probably the broadcomm drivers are in trouble.

If you know about a patch to fix the missing function to adjust the brightness of your laptop, please, let me know...

I've had, still I have the same issue with my Asus N550JV

the keys (Fn+F3 - Fn+F4) to regulate the keyboard brigtness work,
(Fn+F5 - Fn+F6) to regulate the display brightness does not work,

fortunately, I can at least regulate it from the KDE Control Center...

your case is worser...

googling with words:

Code: Select all

Acer E1-522 brightness linux
I see it seems a common trouble with other linux too...

the first two suggested links,,,,
http://askubuntu.com/questions/128463/h ... brightness
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireOne522

from the first google link, just for example,
you can try one of the proposed solution,
editing the grub boot line and adding

Code: Select all

acpi_backlight=vendor"
try different workaround, if you find one working, let us know about...

Hello,

will there be any newer kernels available for OpenMandriva? Latest officially available is 4.1.7 and 4.2. Url links to ABF seem not to be working at all.

Thanks

As far as I can see the ABF links are still there both for rosa and openmandriva, but it is a long time that Nicco does not post anything.

It would be nice to hear something about him, whether he decided to stop kernel development or not.

there have been significant advances and/or improvements since 4.1.3,
but there should be a kernel update during this month, please, be patient!
