Kernel 3.12.5: the adventure begins with nrj, nrjQL, One ...

Post by NicCo »

Kernel 3.12: nrj, nrjQL, ONE
the adventure begins with new kernel 3.12, our first version 3.12.5

About kernel 3.12
http://kernelnewbies.org/Linux_3.12

I've sent, as usual all the SRPMS into ABF, to search them:
https://abf.rosalinux.ru/search?utf8=%E ... ery=3.12.5

About my local testing: my rebuilds, install, and all reboots are OK
About ABF: rosa2012lts, rosa2012.1, omv2013 OK, cooker to fix

First rebuilds are currently in progress...
for now only desktop flavours have been enabled to rebuild

nrj >>>
https://abf.rosalinux.ru/kernels_3_12x/ ... uild_lists

nrjQL >>>
https://abf.rosalinux.ru/kernels_3_12x/ ... uild_lists

IMPORTANT:
I remind you the base repo address for kernels 3.12 link:
http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/kerne ... epository/

Later, there should follow all the other kernel flavours: rt, rtQL, and 3 different vanilla

bye, NicCo

Nvidia, can be installed from Nvidia website, not the dkms
it depends on the version, it's possible to add a 3.12 patch

VMware 10 and 10.0.1 does not build vmci modules

there are some unofficial patches, not tested by me

Ehm...
The above patches are for the vmblock module, not for the vmci one...
still searching about this.

I tried to install on Rosa 212.1 X64 the latest Nvidia-current driver from Nvisia site, but, while it installs flawlessly, it does not work with both kernel 3.10.19 and 3.11.10.
3.25 version installs and works with kernel 3.10, but the system does not allow to enable opengl acceleration. Once patched 3.25 works with kernel 3.11.10 and the opengl acceleration can be enabled.
Didn't try yet with Kernel 3.12 as it may be a longer task (With the above two kernels the Vesa drivers prevent the system from booting), so I'll try when I will have a bit more time to try.
