MANDRIVA 2010.2 - KDE 4.8.3
It's available for testing the whole set of packages for KDE4 4.8.3 i686 & x86_64
http://mirror.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010 ... e4.8/i686/
http://mirror.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010 ... .8/x86_64/
GENERAL INFO
This new shining KDE could be installed and used as a "stand-alone" project:
even if you have only an official 2010.2 distro, without MIB /basic repository

That's why we have /general repo instead of packaging all those required updates to /basic repository
(they will be only copied to /basic soon but not moved). PLF is also not needed, not other 3rd party repo

We would like the most of users could install this "KDE4 4.8 project" very easily and without any fears...
To install kde 4.8.3 you must add four new repositories
/general, /kde4.8-current, /kde4.8-extra, /kde4.8-prereq

(*) kde4.8-current is a symlink pointing now to http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.2/ ... 4.8-4.8.3/
with upcoming kde release this symlink will be modified to point to newer kde 4.8.0 -> 4.8.1 -> 4.8.2 -> 4.8.3- etc., pratically to the latest kde 4.8.x version available,
so you'll can update in a very easy and confortable way, without to modify again your repo config

# now you have just added 8 fonts for KDE4 4.8 MIB project - 64bit arch
then update everything with the command

Code: Select all

urpmi --auto-select
sometimes you may need to remove some KDE4 xxx -devel related libs or old rpms to have no conflicts and to go forward with the update:
you can temporarely remove some conflicting rpms, when the update is completed if you still need them you can install the newer versions

you can try to repeat the command to verify if everything has been already correctly installed

Code: Select all

urpmi --auto-select

and all that until your rpm update list is empty (no more rpms to update)

ImageIf you have the mib repo /basic enabled, it could ask you to choose between packages related to qt 4.7.4 or newer qt 4.8.x:
naturally you have to select the number corresponding to the newer packages, related to newer qt 4.8.x packages and libs, if NOT and if you choose instead qt 4.7.4 you may have conficts and the install will be stopped,

At the end, after some hundreds of rpms, you can reboot, and Congrats, you are in KDE4 4.8.3

MANDRIVA 2010.2 32bit - KDE 4.8.0
È stato uppato l'intero set di pacchetti KDE4 4.8.3 i686 e x86_64
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.2/ ... e4.8/i686/
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.2/ ... .8/x86_64/
INFORMAZIONI GENERALI

/general, /kde4.8-current, /kde4.8-extra, /kde4.8-prereq

(*) kde4.8-current è in realtà un link simbolico adesso verso http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.2/ ... 4.8-4.8.3/
verrà modificato per puntare su kde4.8-4.8.3 - kde4.8-4.8.3 - ecc., ovvero verso l'ultima release di KDE4 4.8 e rendere gli aggiornamenti 4.8.0 -> 4.8.1 -> 4.8.2 -> 4.8.3 etc, molto semplici e immediati.

poi aggiorna tutto con il comando

Code: Select all

urpmi --auto-select

Code: Select all

urpmi --auto-select

I inform you that in folder /general one piece has been replaced, and one just added,
and precisely:
1> phonon-gstreamer now is new 4.6.0 final version
2> phonon-vlc 0.5.0 (not an official backend, but you can install, configure and try)

Code: Select all

Trouble with network applet : it cries :

«pas d'interface réseau» (no network interface)

But network is ok. Unfortunately network applet icon is red ! If try to configure it, only VPN is active. I cannot configure others interfaces, no accessibility.

Is it a bug or a (new) feature ?

(I have yet delete old plasma config and no change)

Do you have somme idea ?

Do you mean Mandriva's net_applet? It's not related to KDE4 so it shouldn't be affected by KDE4 update...

With kernel > 2.6.39 net_applet say no network interface:
it's a well known problem

If you have kernel 3.0.8, did you have also updated drakx-net?

In the kernel folders
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.2/ ... els/3.0.8/
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.2/ ... els/3.0.8/

there are the needed files to install
- drakx-net-0.90-69.2mib2010.2.noarch.rpm
- libdrakx-net-0.90-69.2mib2010.2.noarch.rpm
- drakx-net-text-0.90-69.2mib2010.2.noarch.rpm

It's very close to us the new KDE4 4.8.4, and it'll be really the last one...
Generally 4.8.4 is not the last version, but this time 4.8.5 is not planned

You can read:
http://techbase.kde.org/Schedules/KDE4/ ... e_Schedule

You'll find packages in a few days

This 2010 MIB version fixed a most hated bug that was introduced in KDE4 4.6.x and still not fixed in upstream:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275383
With a proper MIB patch SuperKaramba plasmoids got their plasma background back.

You'd find all the needed rpms in MIB 2010.2 and/or 2010.3 repositories early next week...

About KDE 4.8.4 for ROSA2012 MARATHON, we know that the porting has started, and we think will be for /testing for the same time

KDE4 4.8.4 > for Mandriva 2010 with ROSA UI, KLook, Stack Fo

Post by NicCo »

Image - ENGLISH
KDE4 4.8.4 is finally online for Mandriva 2010.2 configured with 2010.3 repositories.
viewtopic.php?f=38&t=3299

Other than upstream changes, our port adds:
  • KLook integration (select files in Dolphin and press [space bar] to run preview)
  • Fixed bug with missing SuperKaramba plasmoid backgrounds
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275383), introduced in KDE 4.6.x and still not fixed in upstream.
  • Kdegames4 from KDE4 4.9 beta
Also updated Qt4 switched back from EGL to "normal" OpenGL. EGL doesn't
work with proprietary nVidia drivers so some Qt4 OpenGL applications
couldn't start. Now it's fixed.

x86_64 Qt4/KDE4 is built with gcc 4.4.7.
If everything works fine (and it should), we'll push this gcc bugfix update to 2010.2 main/updates.

Code: Select all

bash-4.1$ su
Password:
[root@localhost utente]# urpmi --auto-select

Code: Select all

Code: Select all

urpme Kmail e poi urpmi kmail
Qualche suggerimento.
Grazie

Ciao a tutti,
anch'io ho problemi con kmail.
Quando lo lancio mi da questo errore.

La mia versione è 4.8.4 64 bit mandriva 2010.2 con i repo 2010.3 abilitati

[ciro@BimboCiroII ~]$ kmail
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
kmail2(18834)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig:
kmail2(18834)/kdepimlibs (mailtransport): Could not access Outbox.
[ciro@BimboCiroII ~]$ *** KMail got signal 11 (Exiting)
*** Dead letters dumped.
KCrash: Application 'kmail' crashing...

Qualcun'altro ha questo problema?

<post-edit>
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get- ... roken.html
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=301625

Fine per davvero del post edit :P

Saluti Ciro!

Code: Select all

bash-4.1$ su
Password:
[root@localhost utente]# urpmi --auto-select
Continuo comunque l'Installazione? (S/n) s
[root@localhost utente]#
Non riesco a risolvere il problema.
Ogni suggerimento è gradito.
Grazie
