Checking the mailbox that I used the technical stuff I came across this post by Guillaume Rousse:
==========================================================================
Hello, dear PLF mignons.

The last package release announcement is now 15 month old, and the last message posted on -discuss mailing-list list is 18 month old, so it's quite safe to consider PLF project officialy dead now. As zarb.org is moving to a new server, I'd prefer to avoid useless efforts such as migrating unused resources...

At the end of the week, all project mailing-list will be closed, and the package repository set read-only. The web site, and the mailing-list archives will stay accessible at usual address.

It was a great adventure, thanks you for your support.

==========================================================================

And with that we went almost completely from what was once Mandrake Linux.

Goodbye and thank PLF!

bye, NicCo

I remember a very good issue of mandriva linux plf version, perhaps 2007... probably the best mandriva linux I've never installed! R.I.P.

Don't worry about too much,
we have the same contents in ROSA /restricted repository, or in /non-free or even /contrib,
and I presume for OpenMandriva 2013 will be the same.

PLF was very fine, but only up to Mandriva 2010...

now, for some unofficial contents, or differently built rpms, you may use also the MIB repos...

another interesting repo, managed mainly by symbianflo >>> http://mrb.mandrivausers.ro/

bye, NicCo

@Nicco best mdv ever 2007.1 ( the pwp spin came on 2 or 3 dvd's :D ...this one was the best.. :( )
On mrb I'm trying for 2012.1: svn/git/cutting edge, and restricted packages, for all the stable versions my portings are in /contrib.
mainly I'm trying to keep up to date LTS with Desktop, so more stuff for LTS and less for Desktop on MRB
And since every single fork from mandriva have it own restricted , ( maybe not with the same name but with the same mission)
PLF remain without packagers that used to push in PLF...

I feel sorry for PLF but ..live goes on ...

If they remove all ftp for old mdv distro, for people still using those old versions, it can be a mess,
I think mainly to mandriva 2010 users...

but the anounce says
the package repository set read-only
so the folders with all the old rpms will be frozen but available!
