Testing repository to try KDE 4.8.4 4.8.5 on ROSA 2012 LTS

Image ONLY FOR TESTERS AND ADVANCED USERS! Image
It's a repo ONLY for testers, we don't guarantee that it will be free from errors.

Different than usual, KDE 4.8.4 will be the last version of KDE 4.8, then KDE team will release KDE 4.9.0
I mean that there should be NOT a KDE 4.8.5 version after this 4.8.4...

UPDATE: July 04 2012 - the strings contain new KDE 4.8.4 path
so it should remove previous missing repository then add the new restored one
For adding repository just do:

KDE4 4.8.4 for ROSA2012 MARATHON - x86_64 > 64bit

Code: Select all

urpmi.removemedia kde4.8.4
urpmi.addmedia kde4.8.4 http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/tigro_personal/repository/KDE4.8.4/x86_64/main/release/
#
KDE4 4.8.4 for ROSA2012 MARATHON - i586 > 32bit

Code: Select all

urpmi.removemedia kde4.8.4
urpmi.addmedia kde4.8.4 http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/tigro_personal/repository/KDE4.8.4/i586/main/release/
#
I remind all those who are going to install this new testing kde:
It's very useful receiving Your feedback about installation and how is working...

bye, NicCo

I have an installation Mandriva 2011 upgraded to Rosa2012lts+kde4.8.3+kde4.8.4 works fine

It's working like a dream :D this is because 4.8.4 is only bugfix release to 4.8.

It was found that KDE4 4.8.4 brings more problems than fixes, so it was decided to stay with KDE4 4.8.3.

I think best thing is to do that mention it in this topic that it has been removed (big text to up thx) so nobody try to install it,because there was still media info available so rpmdrake and urpmi thinks there was still those packages left.

And there aren't any information about which are official ROSA repositories, even in MIB blog doesn't exist any information about that.
Moreover, this page https://abf.rosalinux.ru/ is only for friends, not for everybody. Nobody answers to me about my suscription petition. ROSA is a weak project.

Strange questions you're asking.
And there aren't any information about which are official ROSA repositories

Code: Select all

http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/rosa2012lts/repository/
?
Ok, I'll add link in ROSA web resources ;)

Moreover, this page https://abf.rosalinux.ru/ is only for friends, not for everybody.
Not sure what you mean with " only for friends"
I can easily navigate every link from there.

Well, I've ROSA 2012 Marathon EE, am I "a friend" then?
(Yes, I am)

As usual, I immediately informed ROSALAB about these little problems...

I informed ROSA about the KDE 4.8.4 missing files from Arkady's personal repository:
I was told that if possible KDE4 4.8.4 will be restored soon into a different repository folder
If recovery will be possible, I will let you know as soon as I have the new path of KDE 4.8.4

and... also if here is a Off Topic

I see you're inside:
http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/tobal_personal/

Sometimes you just need a little patience ...

To add Tobal contrib repository to Rosa 2012 MARATHON

for x86_64 arch

Code: Select all

urpmi.addmedia Tobal-personal_x64 http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/tobal_personal/repository/x86_64/media/main/release/
for i586 arch

Code: Select all

urpmi.addmedia Tobal-personal_x32 http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/tobal_personal/repository/i586/media/main/release/
as you can see with ABF, each developer could have and maintain a personal repository, like ubuntu people is accustomished with PPAs

Thanks to Alexander Burmashev (ROSALAB) who restored the requested missing project,
we have KDE 4.8.4 again, in a different path, so you must change your repositories config

The new path is:
http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/tigro ... /KDE4.8.4/

GOTO the TOP of this Topic, and you can find the updated strings to add or replace the kde 4.8.4 repositories

Looks like it works just fine (same as 4.8.3). I haven't seen any new problem.

Unfortunatlly annoying editor bug is still here :(
