Yes, in fact, I gained 2s since the transition to BFQ V7;)

But I was gaining the same 2s with kernel 3.12.9 using the CFQ scheduler

OMV 2013 has the / partition, including /home, on an older Western Digital SATA hdd, WDC WD1001FALS-00J7B0, using udma6, according to hdparm. First, with a slightly older kernel:

Code: Select all

[root@localhost rolf]# systemd-analyze
Startup finished in 4.913s (kernel) + 31.083s (userspace) = 35.997s
[root@localhost rolf]# uname -r
3.11.8-nrjQL-desktop-1omv
[root@localhost rolf]# cat /etc/mandriva-release
OpenMandriva Lx release 2013.0 (Oxygen) for x86_64
First boot of the new kernel:

Code: Select all

[root@localhost rolf]# systemd-analyze
Startup finished in 5.331s (kernel) + 35.521s (userspace) = 40.852s
[root@localhost rolf]# cat /etc/mandriva-release
OpenMandriva Lx release 2013.0 (Oxygen) for x86_64
[root@localhost rolf]# uname -r
3.12.12-nrjQL-desktop-69omv
Another boot, in case first boot includes some "settling in" time:

Code: Select all

[root@localhost rolf]# systemd-analyze
Startup finished in 5.465s (kernel) + 32.742s (userspace) = 38.208s
[root@localhost rolf]# cat /etc/mandriva-release
OpenMandriva Lx release 2013.0 (Oxygen) for x86_64
[root@localhost rolf]# uname -r
3.12.12-nrjQL-desktop-69omv
Since I don't know if time spent at the login screen is accounted by this method, another boot that includes waiting at the login screen before logging in:

Code: Select all

[root@localhost rolf]# systemd-analyze
Startup finished in 5.702s (kernel) + 29.771s (userspace) = 35.473s
[root@localhost rolf]# cat /etc/mandriva-release
OpenMandriva Lx release 2013.0 (Oxygen) for x86_64
[root@localhost rolf]# uname -r
3.12.12-nrjQL-desktop-69omv
ROSA 2012.1 has the / partition, including /boot, on an OCZ-AGILITY3 SSD, udma6, /home on a SATA drive.

Code: Select all

[root@localhost rolf]# systemd-analyze
Startup finished in 2.958s (kernel) + 25.485s (userspace) = 28.443s
[root@localhost rolf]# uname -r
3.11.9-nrjQL-desktop-69rosa
[root@localhost rolf]# cat /etc/rosa-release
ROSA Desktop Fresh R2 release 2012.1 for x86_6]

Code: Select all

[root@localhost rolf]# systemd-analyze
Startup finished in 2.877s (kernel) + 31.224s (userspace) = 34.101s
[root@localhost rolf]# cat /etc/rosa-release
ROSA Desktop Fresh R2 release 2012.1 for x86_64
[root@localhost rolf]# uname -r
3.12.12-nrjQL-desktop-69rosa

After waiting at the login screen before logging in:

Code: Select all

[root@localhost rolf]# systemd-analyze
Startup finished in 2.858s (kernel) + 33.767s (userspace) = 36.626s
[root@localhost rolf]# cat /etc/rosa-release
ROSA Desktop Fresh R2 release 2012.1 for x86_64
[root@localhost rolf]# uname -r
3.12.12-nrjQL-desktop-69rosa
Thanks.
