No, it's a bit different. The one at rapidshare has slightly better spec file (with standard MIB header).d.frolov wrote:This SRPM here http://people.redhat-club.org/inf/mc-sl ... riva/srpm/ .Pulfer wrote:Here it is:

Re: Midnight Commander revived
On December 14th 2008 release of domestic Midnight Commander fork version 4.6.3 was out.
Essential changes:
- "Preserve Attributes" flag in copy and move dialogs may be optionally automatically disabled if destination file system doesn't support file attributes.
- During copy/move from right panel to left, progress bar changes from right to left also.
- Panel codepage (for single-byte code pages).
- File recoding during edit and view.
- Switch between panel display modes (vertical/horizontal splitting) via Alt+,(comma) hotkey. Thanks to Andrew Ugolnik.
- Extension-based file highlighting. Thanks to X-Stranger.
- "The shell is already running a command" problem fixed.
- C/C++ syntax highlighting rules changed. Thanks to Alex Custov.
- Debian patches: syntax and extension-based detection for apt/deb.
- Debian patches: fixes in translations and bash syntax highlighting.
- Lower menu with basic keyboard hotkeys fixed. Thanks to Denis Frolov (a.k.a. INF).
- Config paths fix. Now they're installed at /etc/mc during make install.
- Digital clock was added to the panel mode.
- Warning on inability to change permissions was removed for ftp. Thanks to pavlinux.
- Fixed free disk space display at the current directory mount point (in windows language: free disk space on the current disk).
- Syntax highlighting for awk was added.
- CSS (Cascading Style Sheets, not Counter Strike Source) highlighting file was significantly extended.
- Patch for switching between mount points via Shift+F1/F2 was added.
- Syntax highlighting for ebuild was added.
- New element was added to F2 menu to allow to open files/directories via program assigned to this file type in the current DE. E.g., for *.txt in KDE, kwrite will open. It utilizes xdg-open.
- After Ctrl+Space press, cursor doesn't move automatically to the next file.
- New file types were added to mc.ext (Kaffeine and K3b playlists, FLAC, Qt .ui, etc).
- Autoindent toggling in the editor via Alt+i hotkey. It is useful when pasting text from the buffer.
- C++ syntax highlighting with Qt macros support from Debian added. For public/private/protected access qualifiers brightmagenta color is used, this enhances classes visual perception.
- Port number for ssh connection may be specified.
- On connection error (e.g. ssh) screen is redrawn, thus faulty connection artifacts are eliminated. Also artifacts for the first successful ssh connection are removed.
- Translation file no.po is renamed to nb.po.
... and lot of other enhancements.
Special thanks to Bircoph for English version of the site.

with slightly different ya see , that is what means for them "with slightly different"?The Epoch term allows new RedHat Package Manager (RPM) packages to replace old packages with slightly different names, and also where rpm considers the new package version number to be lower than the installed package.
May work , or may not ...it's not about if a package works on local repo ,or for private use , if ya whant to follow this way we have to put the packages compiled with EPOCH in testing first , and only afterwards into the normal media ....
but of corse its only my opinion ,
keep going great job ...

Re: Midnight Commander revived
According to this description, "This number will take over the versioning comparison, when rpm has to guess whether a given package is newer than another". So it should always work but we must increment Epoch for every new version release.symbianflo wrote:with slightly different ya see , that is what means for them "with slightly different"?

Re: Midnight Commander revived
Are you sure we used epoch in zip's spec? Actually, I didn't know Mandriva already included zip 3.0 in 2009.0, so I simply increased release number, not version or epoch.symbianflo wrote:according to the facts actually happent with your zip compiled with epoch don't work ...

Re: Midnight Commander revived
Some news here. Midnight Commander 4.7.0-pre1 was released yesterday:
http://www.midnight-commander.org/wiki/ ... 4.7.0-pre1
You can use Google language tools to translate the page from Russian to English.
But some important features that present in MIB package mc 4.6.3 (mc Russian fork) are missing. Like Alt+. feature. As I know, they will be added in next pre-release. So I guess it's reasonable not to update mc 4.6.3 with mc 4.7.0-pre1.
